"Spider Pig" Breaches the Peace

David Mullen (22 years old) from Blairgowrie, Scotland was arrested on July 25, 2008 after singing the Spider Pig song from The Simpsons Movie to police officers. He was charged with breaching the peace. The man claimed that he was only singing the song because it was the ringtone on his phone.

However, this was not his first offense. He was being detained in the back of a police van when he rang out in song because he was involved in a fight. Along with that he was caught breaching his curfew on October 30 and assaulting a police officer on November 2. He was sentenced to a total of eleven months in jail.

On top of all of this, Mullen has been abusing alcohol since the age of 12. Sheriff Robert McCreadie released this statement:

"It is tragic that you have taken alcohol for almost half of your life. You have a dreadful record for a man of 22. It is now your decision if you want to continue down the tragic and appalling road you have chosen for yourself."

xPirate's Thoughts: Oh my lucky stars, this made me literally laugh out loud when I read it. I would never have guessed that out of all of the songs you could sing to "breach the peace" that Spider Pig would be the one that makes the news. I remember after first seeing The Simpson's Movie I would always walk around everywhere belting the Spider Pig song. Of course, I never would have sang it to a police officer. I can just picture the drunk scottish guy singing it now.

Now aside from this guy being hilarious, I think he's also incredibly stupid. You'd think after a first offense and already being on bail that he would be careful not to make mistakes. I guess the 10 years of alcohol abuse finally have gotten to his head.
