Palin Pardons Turkey

Former Vice President cadidate, Sarah Palin, performed her duties as a political leader today by extending an official pardon to a Turkey of her choice. This pardon saved the life of one turkey, the main course of the Thanksgiving holidays. It is a custom in the United States for government officials to officially pardon turkeys around Thanksgiving. Video footage of Palin showed the slaughter of many other turkeys in the background, which she refused to comment on.

Palin did tell reporters: "This was neat. I was happy to get to be invited to participate in this. For one, you need a little bit of levity in this job... It's nice to get out and... participate in something that isn't so heavy-handed politics that it invites criticism."

xPirate's thoughts: First of all, I didn't know that this custom existed until I just read about it. I think it's really cool and kind of funny. I also find it ironic and humorous that Palin thought this act would not get her criticism, yet the video footage of turkey slaughter has lead to much criticism from anti-Palin fans. Here's my advice for you Sarah: ANYTHING you do now is going to be criticized. Welcome to the world of being a United State's politician.

  1. I thought it was just the President who was allowed to issue pardons...
